Hillary Clinton finally gave a verbal statement and answered press questions regarding her use of a private email account and a private server when conducting government business while serving as Secretary of State under the Obama Administration. In response to why she chose to utilize private accounts, Clinton said she had opted for the most convenient way to make communications easier by not having to carry two devices but that in hind sight she supposed it might have been better had she not done so. At the time she’d made that decision, however, she said she did not expect that utilizing private email would become an issue. She also assured the public that she had not done anything wrong. In her defense, Clinton stated that she had turned over 55,000 emails to the State Department when they first requested them back in December 2014. With that, she noted that the State Department’s request applied to other former Secretaries of State, not just her.
Elaborating on her use of a private email server, Clinton said the system had been set up during former President Bill Clinton’s presidency and thus it had passed security measures and thus was secure. She also noted that she had not sent any classified emails. With all the problems facing the United States [such as Republican senators entering cahoots with non-American Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu in efforts to bring down the country’s American President and to catapult the country into war with Iran] many in the media as well as Hillary opponents persist on pushing this email non issue which is not the scandal some have called it since the former Secretary of State has done nothing wrong. Considering the obsession the media and many Republican legislators have with ‘breaking’ Ms. Clinton, however, perhaps the email controversy is just one in their many witch hunts against her… What’s your take?
